The LANpoint PLUS is a new, Windows CE.NET based data collection terminal for forklifts and lift-trucks. The low-cost AutoID terminals use WLAN for real-time data capture into ERP/WMS/MES applications. Typical applications are Shipping and Receiving, Inventory Control, Work-in-Process, Pick-to-Pack, Lot Tracking, and Put-Away.

Their rugged, and compact (9.0” W x 5.0” H x 3.75” D), NEMA 12 (IP54) rated case is water and dust resistant allowing for installation in demanding manufacturing and warehousing operating environments. The VM LANpoint PLUS runs on a flexible and scalable Microsoft Windows CE.NET / Intel® XScale™ platform. Standard features include an adjustable brightness backlit LCD text display, onboard non-volatile storage expandable to 500MB, Web-enabled system administration tools, a wide range of .NET software development tools, and a full selection of installation, mounting and AutoID add-on accessories and options provide for easy implementation, support, and system management throughout the lifetime of the customer’s system investment.

 

Microsoft’s embedded Windows CE.NET 4.2 provides a powerful, flexible and scalable operating system for data collection terminals, programmable automation controllers and portable enterprise devices. Windows CE.NET allows developers the convenience of using their existing desktop development skills with Microsoft’s Visual Studio.NET 2003 Professional development tools or Microsoft’s eMbedded Visual C++ 4.0. Standard networking and utility software includes TCP/IP, SNMP, SQL CE and MSMQ. Remote network management is provided by WebDevice, Intelligent Instrumentation’s Web-server application that comes standard on each LANpoint PLUS. In addition, optional terminal emulation interfaces are available for – VT, HP, IBM5250, and IBM3270.

The LANpoint PLUS has no internal moving parts such as CPU fans or hard drives that can fail in industrial conditions. Standard features include a 2 line x 40 character backlit LCD display, large keys, small installation footprint, and three RS-232 ports that can be used for standard serial I/O such as barcode scanners and 2D laser scanners. The PS/2 connector allows use of wedge readers as well as external keyboards. There is even the thoughtful addition of a 3.3V, 5V and 12V power connector for 2D laser scanners and other AutoID devices. A full line of accessories and mounting options is available, from AutoID devices to battery backup packs and wiring installation kits. Vehicle power supplies and power conditioning converters are available for 12VDC - 48VDC lift trucks. Intelligent Instrumentation provides everything necessary to get the LANpoint PLUS terminals installed and running quickly, ensuring a rapid return on investment (ROI).

The LANpoint PLUS Vehicle terminal, model number VM3450B-1, are available for delivery beginning January 10, 2005. US single unit pricing for the VM LANpoint PLUS starts at $ 2050. Volume discounts are available to qualified accounts.
